Building a Foundation for Learning

The Twin Valley Community Education Foundation is a non-profit community organization created and administered by an independent Board of community volunteers.

The Foundation is a flexible link between the community, business and the Twin Valley School District with the goal of channeling private dollars and support into a broad range of programs for residents as well as the students of the greater Twin Valley community.

The Foundation is not part of the Twin Valley School District. However, because it is critical that a mutually cooperative relationship exist between the two organizations, the Superintendent and two School Board members are non-voting members of the Board of Advisors.

The Twin Valley Community Education Foundation is affiliated with the Berks County Community Foundation, which provides donor administration services. The official registration and financial information of Berks County Community Foundation may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling toll free, within Pennsylvania, 1-800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement.

ENRICH THE LIVES OF KIDS IN YOUR COMMUNITY!!

The ENCORE! program is provided by the YMCA in partnership with the Twin Valley School District. The YMCA provide the administrative management, program volunteers, and secures funding to cover the program costs. There is no cost to the student, district or taxpayer. The program is voluntary for all elementary and middle school students and consists of three cycles - Fall, Winter, Spring. Each cycle is six weeks long and is provided several afternoons a week - until 5:15 for middle school students and 5:00 for elementary students. Students can choose from a wide variety of activities and attend two activities per week.

Why ENCORE? - The after school hours, before parents get home from work, is proven to be a critical time when youth need positive social outlets. Providing the ENCORE! program free to elementary and middle school youth gives parents a sense of peace, knowing their children are engaging in creatice, value driven activities. Developmental assets are key factors to healthy youth development, which are an important part of ENCORE!

Activities included in ENCORE! are based upon the interests and skills of the volunteers, suggestions made by students, and YMCA areas of expertise. Class size is kept small, 10-15 students and activities vary from the physically challenging, such as fitness and sports, to the creative-based, such as music and drama. Homework help is always available, as well as learning-based opportunities such as language and computers.
