Pipeline Project Information
Dear Parents,
Student safety is the top priority at Twin Valley School District.  Since the pipeline work has begun we have fielded a few questions regarding the pipeline project.  We have contacted Sunoco and they have indicated that they will be creating a bi-monthly or monthly newsletter by mid-May to provide current information on the project.  When the link for the newsletter becomes available we will email blast the information.  The work in our area on the project is expected to take approximately 2 years.  The work is an expansion of the current easement that contains 2 pipes.  Sunoco has regulations and protocols they must follow when a leak occurs.  The leak that recently occurred in the local Morgantown area was not on district property therefore the district was not notified and became aware of the leak when it was reported in the following newspaper article, https://stateimpact.npr.org/pennsylvania/2017/04/20/sunocos-mariner-east-1-pipeline-leaked-ethane-and-propane-in-berks-county-records-show/ .  Attached you will find 3 documents from Sunoco on the project, safety precautions and frequently asked questions.  Please review the attached fact sheets regarding the Mariner East 2 project and pipeline safety. For more details about the project please visit: http://sxlpipelineprojects.com/.  Another resource for questions is the contact form on the website or non-emergency hotline: 855.430.4491.  We know there have been a few questions and concerns regarding evacuation plans for our students and staff in case of an emergency.  Please be assured every building has an emergency evacuation plan as part of the All Hazards Plan Emergency Guide but are not published publicly for safety reasons.
